What are some beginner reptiles that can live in a 40 or 75 gallon?

I was thinking of getting some mantises at the monthly All Ohio Reptile Show, but you're making me have second thoughts
No, I just meant that a lot of folks go to expos and end up walking away with something they didn't really want

I decided to look for either a hognose snake, corn snake, or leopard gecko. Beardie care seems rather intimidating (for now). I have time to research some more.

How are carpet pythons, jungle carpet pythons to keep? Just curious.

They grow fast, can be pretty nippy if not downright defensive, and will eventually need an enclosure that's larger than a 75 gallon tank (although that would do for the first couple years). When I kept one years ago I had it in a custom built enclosure that was 6' H x 8' W x 3' D. The temp and humidity requirements for them are high, which can be difficult to maintain for a beginner. They're cool snakes but should really only be kept by someone with a good amount of experience with constrictors.
