Might stop by to Home Depot or Lowe’s to get a substrate later. What are good brands out there? Also Do you mix them with vermiculite, cocopeat, sand, etch. Looking for opinion

-thanks

In uk people use scotts and westland and another brand that starts with W, but I don't remember it's name right now, wickes or wickles, something like that.

I bought the cheapest one, because they usually don't have anything added. Find the cheapest one and take a look at the composition. If it's free of added pesticides and fertilizers, it should be fine.

You can find a compressed 3cu Ft. bales of 100% Peat Moss. Will last you a long time and will also serve as a organic medium base for soil for plants if you want to have some plants in the home. It’s what I use. Lowe’s has this usually more this year, Home Depot has had a shortage this entire year with peat moss this year but Lowe’s carries it. Don’t get the miracle grow peat moss little bag, contains fertilizers. You can also get good ol top soil there.

The green and white bag is what I use. Super cheap. I mix a few things together but pure peat is good. I can't seem to find top soil that is without things I don't want in there in my area.

I don’t remember what exactly I’ve used, I’ve used quite a few different brands over the years, but I think I know what you are talking about with that bag!

They don’t mold if mixed with coco fiber?
IME,coco fiber doesn’t mold unless there is a excess amount of moisture,or a lack of air flow.otherwise know as ventilation.Or a feeder left undiscovered or not removed .
Or maybe I have been lucky?.Regardless, the mixture for me is roughly 20/80 mixture, give or take.IMO,one
of the biggest hurdles in T keeping,is being able to judge moisture levels.
If it doesn’t mold, keep doing what your doing. If it does, check for organic leftovers(feeders/old molts, and spood poop, bolus. And back off in the watering.
And again,it depends on the particular T I’m housing.
