So I’ve been hunting for a Carolina wolf spider for a while and have found a few a couple years ago. Even caught a gravid female who had her slings with me. After I let the slings go after about 2 weeks of being with the mother, I began searching for another female to keep in captivity. Today I found this wolf spider which does resemble the carolinenses but I’m still unsure if it is what I was searching for. I found her under a tree stump in my backyard. Any suggestions as to what species this is will be appreciated (hopefully it’s the Carolina wolf spider!😁). I googled some pictures of a carolinenses sling and she does look similar, she’s around an 1/2”-3/4”.

I can’t tell but your probably right pics are too zoomed out . Wish I could find those in middle of Ohio .

I decided to let it go. I have another wolf spider I believe to be in the Hogna genus and they actually look identical (speaking of the one I caught earlier and the one I already have). I’ll just wait and see if it molts. It’s actually doing quite well and has eaten twice with me in about 2 weeks. I attempted feeding yesterday but it wasn’t interested.

good luck 🍀
Yeah I caught a few little red centipedes but I don’t know how often to feed them no one responded in the appropriate forum section. And do I assume they need either housed separately or in a large container ?

I would play it safe and house them separately. Can you send a picture of the centipede?

Oh that’s cool, I actually caught a stone centipede (Lithobius Forficatus) about 2 weeks ago. I’ve been keeping it on coco fiber with some leaf litter and sphagnum moss mixed in. She seems to hide all day but comes out once in a while at night to look around. She drinks from a water bowl but also from water drops at the side of the enclosure. I’ve attempted feeding twice, but have been unsuccessful. I think I’m gonna try to feed her another cricket tomorrow. She just attacked the cricket I put in last week and then ran away so I can’t tell if she’s afraid of it or not hungry (the cricket was around a half inch and she is 1”). She hides under the leaf litter or under a piece of bark I put in there but she seems to like the enclosure a little damp but not wet. Hope that helps😃

I just don’t know what sizes dubia a 1-2” one can eat clearly not an adult male.. I got loads of babies . Or I can go buy crickets for it .

I’m sure it would take a dubia, maybe a red runner would be better since they move around and don’t play dead

If they can’t take down Dubia, I’ll probably just let them free. I don’t have enough tarantulas to justify getting red runners right now.

Yeah makes sense, hopefully yours eats so you can keep them but better to let them go than starve. Hopefully mine eats soon or else I’ll have to let mine go as well🥺🫠

Yeah I don’t have any nymphs 1/2” right now to feed it .. so it may get set free . Babies are too small for a 1-2” pede ..I want a giant centipede next or a genic but have to get a job for that . Gotta hope my ankle heals in a month or I won’t be able to work for a while.

Hope you get better. Tom Patterson’s site hardcore arachnids has Florida keys centipedes available at 5” for $40 a piece. I’m gonna pick one up pretty soon so I’m excited for my first larger pede

I keep big roaches so it’s just a waste feeding these little pedes but I maybe have so many hundred nymphs I might try feeding the thing 1/3” babies . They could help keep my population down . Or set them free and catch some next year:: I’d rather buy a giant pede imo . I don’t see much point in these til they hit 3”

For sure, I noticed that bark centipedes vary in color. The one I have is brown but I saw an orange one around my house and another two reddish ones somewhere else. Might try keeping a few more if mine eats

I forgot there metabolism is so slow and once there adult theyre adults probably eat large dubia males or fat 1/2” nymphs . I can probably just feed them sparingly after I separate them all.
