Okay , so I have my issues with exotics lair and some of his past videos but that is not the point of this post.

How can a supposed exotic facility get so many things right with the random paintings and what not but get the housing so incredibly wrong for terrestrial species?

Nevermind the height issues which in and of itself is a death sentence, is that a dasani water bottle cap water dish for a 6" DLS spider? Who consulted this place?

Yea I don't understand the massive heights of those enclosures. My logic was wow you could fit twice as many spiders in that size space if you just didn't make all the enclosures so damn tall haha.

Overall I've seen way worse for zoo exhibits though. I do hope someone removes uneaten prey. We don't have feeder locusts in the states unfortunately but I'd imagine they could do a number on a molting T. Not to mention the nice plants in those enclosures! The spiders did look pretty healthy from what we saw. If anything, they don't even really need to be offered a meal, that's probably why they weren't eating lol

Exotics seems to be code for snakes and maybe a few other reptiles. Amphibians and arachnids get screwed

The museum in town here has a few Ts and the heights on some of their enclosures is nuts, they’ll have a 5 or so inch C. Versicolor and P. Regalia each in enclosures that are around 32” high and 24x24 for a base. Huge. Not a ton of sub either.

Sounds like they have a good life, and zoos usually have minimum enclosure sizes for the well being of the animals that hobbyists don’t have to adhere to.

When you compare the size of the vast open wild to hobby enclosure sizes, we become the slumlords.

zoos usually have minimum enclosure sizes for the well being of the animals that hobbyists don’t have to adhere to.

Then you would think they would do some basic research and house them in properly sized enclosures.

He’s been discussed here a few times, on other hobby forums and Reddit, so you should be able to get a sense without paying him clicks. Unless you enjoy watching Ts fall into the floor. He cares more about clicks/entertainment than the well being of the animals. Otherwise he’d do his husbandry with both hands instead of holding a camera. He appears to have a lot of disposable income, no excuse not to buy a simple $15 tripod, but it wouldn’t be as entertaining when things go wrong.
