Hi again,
some more.
Let´s start off with that freaky Sparassid. I´m for sure not a sparassid-freak, so this looks just like H. venatoria to me. Only point is, it´s quite big for H. venatoria to my opinion, something like 5" legspan.
However, guess someone will like her...
Next, some Ancylometes, looks exactly like the species that got introduced from French-Guyane and was sold here as A. spec. Roura.
While i´m not too interested in the species at all, it´s at least a chance to try again to resemble that size-potential of this species.
The male is still subadult but has already some 5" legspan. With the offsprings i raised i ended with way smaller specimen. There are females of this species here, too, at least one looks gravid....
Finally, i took a peek behind that bark piece in the tank of the new big Phoneutria. Seems like all the lady is interested in is resting and eating. High hopes here for offsprings.
The colours are just plain weird, to my opinion, looking different under different lightings and even angles. Wouldn´t be surprised, to learn we deal with P. reidyi here, one day...
Don´t expect any more pics of this specimen anytime soon, gonna give her rest and as much prey as she will accept, just everything to enhance chances for a sac. If that should be successful, i´ll definitley have to get some pics with a size reference, as i had, to my own surprise, to realize that this specimen is indeed still a tad bigger than the one from Paraguay.
P. spec. (possibly P. reidyi)
Got pics of the P. boliviensis females, too, but gonna include that in the species despcription in the appropriate thread later.
Greetings,
Stefan
