Nice looking little slings aren’t they!

These are no longer “Pamphobeteus” platyomma, are they?

As far as I know they used to be Vitalius and are currently Pamphobeteus.

According to Platnick, N.I. The world spider catalog Version 4.0, it was transferred from Pamphobeteus to Vitalius then later listed as Nomina dubia ( a doubtful or dubius name). So officially it's neither. Most people in the hobby seem to feel it is a Pamphobeteus sp.

Actually, the carapace on Vitalius platyomma is the exact same as another specie of Vitalius I had. platyomma probably just gets bigger.

For example:

Most Acanthoscurria are little and drably colored for the most part that get legspans about 4in. ok?

Acanthoscurria geniculata, little different right? The legspan and colors is the only difference really.

Hi,

the short version:
a subadult male as been described as Pamphobeteus platyomma by Mello-Leitão. Bertani is of the opinion, that a subadult male can't be 100% certain IDed that's why he gave it the status "nomina dubia".
Later material by Bücherl which erroneously has been IDed as Pamphobeteus platyomma has been IDed among others by Bertani as Vitalius wacketi.

The pet trade "Vitalius/Pamphobeteus platyomma" are allegedly one (or maybe more) Pamphobeteus sp. and have nothing to do with the P. platyomma respectively Vitalius wacketi sensu Mello-Leitão.
