Recently I found someone selling this species. From what I know they are super fast. I would like to know some things. With daily maintenance like misting water in the enclosure, will this spider spazz out and try and take off if disturbed? I'm going to Japan in a week and would hate to put my spider-sitter in a bad predicament. Also, I know many people keep this species on dry substrate with cork bark and some use damp substrate. Which would be the better option? Also, how long do they live? Thanks guys!

Yes they are stupidly fast, but mine always ran for cover when disturbed rather than heading for the exit. Opening the tanks usually resulted in the spider hiding itself away behind a cork bark. I kept them like an average arboreal T with a nice large water dish. Slightly damp substrate only. They go from sling to mature in about 9 or 10 months and neither of mine (both F) lasted a year as adults.

Aw man, I thought they could live up to 3-5 years as adults! Guess I was wrong. Do you think it's better off to start with slings?

Add a water dish and you're underway I reckon. You could even remove some of the substrate if you wish - they have no use for substrate!

The cork bark is small so I wanted to raise it a little bit. I'll take some out definitely. Misting doesn't work good for this species?

They tend to incorporate substrate into the webbing of their hiding spots and also their egg sacs. I'd say substrate is fairly important to them.

Sorry I didn't mean get rid of all the substrate, I just meant that there doesn't necessarily need to be that much.
