Terribly surprising that it just so happened that the right half, where hes usually sitting, came down perfectly against the front of the enclosure instead of the left side. I broke the cork in half and glued two separate pieces.

If I recall @Trenor has been using zip ties on some of his larger setups, not glue. He's using the flat cork too if I recall.

I checked his body and it didn't seem like his prosoma or opisthosoma were ruptured. He may have sustained internal injuries or drowned in the water bowl, but he definitely would have been able to crawl out as it wasn't very deep.

I'm sorry to hear about your A.versicolor. I've had good luck with hot glue and acrylic so far on my smaller enclosures but I haven't used it on my larger ones. Those are nice cork pieces but with the unevenness of them and their weight you have to use a lot of hot glue to secure them. As viper mentioned I have been using wire ties on the backing for my larger cork pieces. This helps it stay secure and allows you to remove the piece if you decide to re-purpose the enclosure for a terrestrial T at a later time. Here is a thread where I posted some more information. Again, I'm sorry about the accident. Maybe this will help if you decide to re setup the enclosure. Best of luck.

Here is the big enclosure I got the corkbark flat to rework. My P.cam girl was none too happy to get ran out of her cork round hide into a catch cup for the duration of the renovations. She went back in easily though.

I ended up with enough cork left over to do 3 or 4 more of the other enclosures like the one above.

I didn't glue the bark to the wall like I did for the above enclosure. I secured the bark to the walls with plastic coated wire so I could remove it to make a terrestrial enclosure should I choose to in the future.

Right before she dropped back into her hide.

Nice cage. Did you make it? Hmm after looking at it and reading your info on the body, it sounds even more strange that it died. If he drowned, he'd have to have been knocked out before falling in IMO.

No its a Jamie's enclosure. I didn't know tarantulas could get knocked out..? And he was upside down in a death curl in the water bowl so I just don't see how he would drown. His leg span is a little smaller than the diameter of the bowl. He could have crawled out.

If it fell into it's waterdish, and it was on it's back in a death curl. Chances are it landed on it's back and hadn't manage to catch itself in the fall then. Looking from the pic, and if the abdomen hit any of that waterdish just right I'd say internal damage then. Not criticizing the bowl mind you, I have a similar one in my versi tank. I think you can chalk this up to an unfortunate but very uncommon incident when it comes to the idea of an avic not catching itself in a fall.

why dont you glue at an angel anyway? if the glue does somehow weaken over time or something then it wont just fall over

i usually make sure the cork has both ends touching opposite sides of the enclosure, so it cant actually fall down

I like my enclosures more open and it also gives me room for the cork round if I decide to use it. There are lots of ways to setup a tank. Accidents sometimes happen.
