Vermicast and sand?

Hi all, up until last week I've mainly been using cocopeat for my tarantulas. Now that I'm looking to get into moisture dependent species, people have been recommending me there own unique mix of substrate. There's a gardening shop near my house that sells some top soil with some fertilizer, pumice, vermiculite, sand and vermicast. I was wondering if I can use vermicast and sand along with cocopeat for my tarantulas. Any thoughts?

Why do you need to add anything? I have kept Ornithoctoninae and Chilobrachys using straight cocopeat(sterilized) so far. No issues with it whatsoever. Wet some cocopeat in a takeaway box, nuke it in a microwave to sterilize and remove excess moisture then tamp it down compact every half inch or so in the enclosure when it has cooled down. Just never let the substrate dry out completely and you will be fine.

I agree with the above post. I only use eco earth for my Asian fossorials and Theraphosas and i dont have any moisture issues using just eco earth. Your idea wont hurt but isn't necessary.

Absolutely dont use anything with fertilizer

I keep my H. gigas in just pure peat moss.
Holds moisture well, can grow moss on it since its slightly more acidic than coco fiber, and it looks natural.

I use ecoearth without problems.
