Is their any similar small scorps avaliable similar to V. spinigerus.
-communal
-mild venom
-thick tails or overall chunky appearance

Possible a non-desert species that does well with higher humidity.
Any info would be great, thanks.

Many Vaejovids can be kept communally, and most if not all have relatively weak venom...

what about the thick tail and chunky appearance?
Most Vaejovis sp. have an overall slender appearance, with the exception of V. spinigerus...you might check out Vaejovis coahuilae, they are somewhat more built than alot of the other Vaejovis sp., but they are harder to come by than V. spinigerus.

well... Vaejovids are not what i would consider communal. Many vaejovid species are much more tolerant of each other than most scorpions... but i have had V. spinigerus brood mates kill and eat each other before, even when adequate food was provided

I think that can be said with plenty of 'communal' type species, there is always the possibility...as long as all the specimens are relatively the same size, its usually not something to worry about, although there are always exceptions...for the most part though, Vaejovis sp. (especially spinigerus) are great species to keep together as long as they are fed on a regular basis and have plenty of room to roam around without always bumping into each other...

I have a group of 6 adult spini's in a 40cm x 30cm (base measurement) terrarie that have been together for well over 6 months without any incident.
They get fed once a week and at nighttime when i check with the UV i can see that they are generally staking out their own little patches.
If 2 do meet while "patrolling" then generally they'll both do a casual "right turn" and leave each other alone.

Talke to Prymal , he loves any US native species and from what I hear he has got a good number of V.Spinis if your intrested in more plus a monkey butt load of other Vajovids.

There is no doubt about it that V.spinigerus have been kept quite succesfully communaly. That being said, in the wild I have yet to see them cluster to any degree -- they always seem quite nicely spaced out across the landscape. You won't, for example, flip a rock and find two under it. I did find two together this last summer, mind you, but the circumstances were less than favourable.

Cheers,
Dave

yeah, It is not a common sight, I've seen 3 under the same rock before, but this was after a rain, so this was bound to occur, anyway, nice picture...
