I'm not sure if this is worth posting, but it can't hurt.

I've got a few Tarantula Crib enclosures that have magnetic doors/lids that aggressively snap into place, and require more force to open than I prefer. I've found a little tweak to make them a little more manageable.

For the lid on our large 14" x 10" x 8" large cuboid, I slipped a couple thin magnets in between the extra strong magnets in the front corners of the lid. This gives just enough play to make dealing with the lid more manageable, but doesn't actually compromise the security of the lid - it's still held down plenty tight. It also creates a very thin but continuous unbroken line of extea ventilation right at the front of the enclosure which I like.

I've also used these same magnets for my 6" x 6" x 9" enclosure with the front sliding door. In this case I actually just attach the magnets to the outside of the door magnets, which creates a little stopper that keeps the slider door from closing completely. My jumping spiders do not have the strength to open this door with or without magnets.

I have no clue if anyone else will find this useful but I do know I'm happy to no longer be fighting against violent snap action with overkill magnet strength on these particular enclosure lids/doors 😅

Too each there own, I'm glad that they use earth magnates. I ended up sticking construction paper under the slider on my enclosure to keep my centipede in. I'm glad you figured out what works best for you!

Yet another reason to save money on making my own enclosures, thank you 😂

I have some shoe boxes with magnets, the door is large enough and pliable enough to engage one magnet at a time, helps with the noise/disturbance (mine HATE it)

Just so happens to measure about 10x15x9, for the cost of $7.50. I can dm you a link if you’re interested. I even use them for my fossorials.

Amazon?

I bought this from Walmart today. Its 6x6x11.5 mainstay brand. I like the closure. Its snap/suction but it doesnt create a commotion when you release it. Stackable too. If this were 8x8x12 it would be perfect. I paid $14 for this i think.
