Hahaha, unfortunately, that is possible. I have never had that problem with my tarantulas before but i have heard of other people having the same experiences.

I have never heard of this. If spiders can change sex's, I am going to get even more confused

hmmm My female Avic avic molted into a male, but I attributed that to perhaps the molt that I sent out for sexing being too ripped up. I think I will send an email off to ATS tomorrow on this, unless someone else beats me to it. It doesn't sound realistic to me, but nature is full of surprises, sooo

edit: Done. Sent an email to Dr. Breene.

I've had a theory that states that the more you feed your T, the bigger the certainty it'll come out as a female. That's my own voodoo science but maybe, just maybe it has something to do with this changeing sex during molts thing {D

:? eh, wth?

i guess with them changing their entire bodies with a molt it could be possible.

I think that you either have a male or a female, they can't at any point in their life change their gender. Who did you send the exuvia to?

They can change sex, a few species at least. Some fish, reptiles, and amphibians can do this too.

I don't think spiders can. What would be the use of sexing juveniles? I think if it were possible there would be info on how to change your male into a female and visa versa.

I've never heard of tarantulas being able to do this. I'd suspect that they were wrongly identified as spiderlings.

Um, no they don't. They change the exoskeleton.

And let's keep our own private voodoo science out of this. Either you have a male, or you have a female. Species changing sex must be very rare.

Wild guess here but perhaps it's possible for a tarantula to have a bad molt and lose the spermathecae? I don't believe tarantulas have the ability to change sex. Can't be completely sure as I've never seen any literature on the subject. And why does the comparison to other animals always come up? Just because all snook start out as females and then later in life some turn to male DOES NOT mean that it happens with tarantulas.

Which species of tarantula? Where is you evidence for such a bold statement?

SPIDERS DO NOT CHANGE SEX

male do gain different chatarristica when they mature but they do not change sex as Luther said you most like got the sexed incorrectly.

I have never read anything about spiders changing sex yes some anphibians etc can be both but spiders thats silly.

And those who seam to think they have read that and it is true should go look again.
