My girlfriend and I are planning on traveling the US in out Chevy Blazer all next summer, about four months. I would like to take some of my T's with me. I have G. porteri, P. murinus, H.maculata, B. smithi and P. regalis. Which ones of these do you think would fair well on the road and which do you think I should not take? I'm confident the P. murinus would do fine, G. porteri maybe, B. smithi, H. mac and P. regalis I am not sure of. I also want to take my A. australis.

I wouldn't take a single one with me. I would have somebody I trust take care of them. It would seem extremely selfish of me to take my T's and stress them out that much just so I could look at them from time to time.

I wouldn't take them, just because of the stress level.
As far as being selfish about the life of a bug? Count how many bugs hit your grill and windshield.:)

I think the daily road vibrations would stress all of them out. Probably best to leave them with a friend.

Four months is not short time, so I would probably take my favorite T`s.. Just check on temps and hydration and they will be fine..

EDIT: You will be on road for four months? Then it is not a good idea...

It seems more selfish to me when you handle your T`s every few days...

When I moved, I was on the road for 10 hours with my entire collection... Alot of them were standing up, or constantly moving around. The constant vibrations of driving really stressed them out (though not TOO much, because my B. smithi molted in the middle of it) but it took everyone a few days to settle back down once we got home.

Four months on the road very well may kill them. I would leave them with a friend.

You really think it's a good idea to take one of the most venomous scorpions on the road with you?

Beyond the vibrations which would annoy the piss out of them, and not being able to keep water or food in their cages, the heat will be come a real factor.
Unless you plan on taking them out of the care EVERY TIME you leave it you will end of with cooked T's. I know Grammies and Pocei's like it warmer but not 150F!
If you have no one else swing if you can swing through Chicago on your first leg, and Mina and I will look after them for you until you are done traveling.

One I have no choice over, the other I do. There's a huge difference there.

Me handling my T's isn't going to kill them. But that much stress on the road could kill his. BIG difference, so I fail to see how you think me holding my T's is more selfish, but to each their own.

You could ride a bicycle. There's always a choice.:)
Four things. One, I would still be killing bugs. Second, it would be way to far for a bike, and third, I can't carry my tools and everything on a bike. Which leads me to four....there really is no choice. :D

I have a 2 Ts colection that is soon to be 5 T colection and i would be moving this to my house in another townw here i study, wich is 50min away from here. How did u transport those Ts ?? Did you put them on another box? Got them in a box with paper and stuff just like you ship them? Or just plain normal enclosures in your car?

Tkz in advance,

I only said that, from experience. I made that choice myself a few years ago.
It was the best thing I ever did, no more chasing that endless destruction of the world thru construction. You may call it jibberish, but I call it caring about the world we live in.:)

You can't just read what I say. You have to understand it as well. :wall:{D The jibberish I am talking about is all the extra text I had to type after typing "No way". It wouldn't just let me type "No way". It was to short.
I am a HVAC Tech. I don't mind what I do. I wouldn't have went to school for it if all I was going to do is look for something different.

I kept everyone in their normal enclosures. Most of mine were slings in cubes at the time, so I packed everyone I could tightly into a box. The rest I just stacked around them on the passenger seat, and put a seatbelt around them {D

The guy at the state border couldn't get over it LOL
