I fed my dogs raw for a while and stopped when I got pregnant because i didn't want to increase the risk of salmonella, based on basic knowledge of the higher likelihood of salmonella being in raw meat and also that I had a living being/ spawn with a compromised immune system to think about. I have continued in this way with a small child living at home.
I did notice some benefits of feeding raw- very shiny coats, the dogs loved it (but they love all food). I also spent a lot of money on it.

I try to take the middle path and give my dogs pretty high quality kibble and sometimes mix it with some veggies and meat for them, which they love.

My vet said it was a great decision to stop feeding raw due to salmonella risks. I am inclined to listen to a trained vet who takes very good care of my dogs.
That's what I do with Typhon. High quality kibble with raw lamb's hearts a few times a week and raw meaty bones.

I use the kibble for a few reasons. The main 1 being it has everything already in that Typhon needs. All the vits, minerals and supplements to aid him. It's also easy to store and is handy to feed. He absolutely loves his lamb's hearts and bones so he's not missing out.

I like dogs and cats. I've never had a dog but I would like one someday. I'm not a big fan of yappy dogs but I like well trained friendly dogs. I'm thinking I'd like to get a chocolate lab sometime :). As for my cats, when I was little, I kinda instinctually tried to do behavioral training on them. They turned out very well I think. I'm still training one cat I own as she is a bit skittish. She's getting better.

This is my very favorite cat that I'd had since I was 4 years old. Such a sweet kitty. She was happy to have me hold her for hours. RIP Rosy.
