Top/side ventilation from the view of molecular motion

I mean, all I know is that my enclosures either have nothing but top ventilation or nothing but side ventilation. I also have a ceiling fan running 24/7. All is well in my T room, so I can't care too much about the specifics.

I am not an expert on ceiling fans either but they will probably do one of two things depending on the direction you choose for the blades (pull cooler air up or push warmer air down). Either direction would cause top down turbulence so your top ventilation probably works well in this case.
