After many failed attempts at finding a 2nd P audax in my yard (gave the 1st one to my best friend) I bit the bullet and spent money on some.

Meet Princess Peach my regal

And Cherry the P carneus (just got her today)

I'm enjoying the heck out of them!

Anyone have any enclosure pics to share? I feel like Peach's tall enclosure is a waste of space as she only uses the top half. Maybe I should put her in the 4 inch tall one as opposed to her 8 inch.

Shadows smaller space

Opinions welcome!! 🕷

Little shadow molted again (twice this month) and today it appears a bit more brown. Is this due to it not yet being hard after the molt of could it be a female?

I guess I'll keep updating this thread. Feeling lonely in here :lol:

A local person had a clutch of regals they were giving away for free so I got 6 of those. My collection is now up to 8 spoods. They were very nice and helpful with my random questions I had. (They still have some left if anyone here is in the Houston TX area).

Here's a few pics of them. They are thriving and eating well!

Not going to lie, the white is my favorite. Such a pretty color! Wish I was any good at determining gender.

What do you guys do when you leave town for a few days (4 max) as far as watering the jumpers?

I like the hexagon house print. Did you print that yourself? I've seen the files online but never took it to the printer.

When I leave town--I beg my gf to come over to water and feed my animals and plants once a week. Usually bribe her by ordering food to my place. She can have it, she just needs to go get it... and get baited by my kitties when she gets there.

It works quite well.

If you don't have someone you can depend on, you can always set it up for the week and forget about it. For a jumper specifically, I would load them up on a few crickets or a fat mealworm, fill a water dish (I use the water bottle caps off the 1G jugs), mist the enclosure walls and substrate (damp not dripping wet)

You can also leave a mealworm at the bottom if you're really paranoid about it.

4 days isn't that long for a spooder. It will be fine for the week with the food you give it before you leave. What's most important is WATER! Without water, it will die pretty quickly.

If you're paranoid like me, I set up two water dishes. I just did that for my Avics. Just in case they knock over a water bowl or bury it, they have a back up until my GF shows up to refill it.

I just landed in Houston yesterday and will be here for the remainder of July. Whereabouts are the spooders located? I'm in the Southwest by Sugarland.

Hey, I live in Sugar Land!

The free spoods are in the Katy area. Was a 30 minute drive for me. So not too bad, PM me for thier contact info if you'd like. Last I heard, which was last week when I got my final 2 from her- she had about 25 left.

The hex hide is from etsy! Super cute and Shadow loves it.

Good tips for the water. Really appreciate it!! I didn't realize they'd seek out a water dish.

It's more like they wander into it. Not sure if spiders can somehow sense water sources but they always manage to find it.

I'll send you a PM.

I couldn't resist. I've named him Venom cause his markings reminded me of Venoms eyes.

Hahaha would love to. Sadly I don't have any friends out in Houston. Only recently acquired my property here within the last few years and I've been mainly residing in CA to make money while I remodel this place.

I would've so loved to go though! I'm seeing videos and photos go up online and there's a couple members there with booths, I would totally love to meet some other hobbyists in the area but alas...

I did not know and could not plan it correctly this year. Maybe next time around.

Did you see anything else there that was super cool? What made you decide to grab just one jumper and not a few to breed?

They really didn't have many jumpers. Just 2 of the "big bend" and one male regal. Literally all else was snakes and geckos.

And I'm no where near ready to breed 😆 its hit or miss on finding them all homes it seems. If I can't get rid of them all, I'm stuck with many mouhs to feed. But I did get the crickets I intended to buy!

My beautiful male regal molted the other day and hasn't been right since. He did come out of it short a pedipalp and with 7 legs.
He was fairly active yesterday, but wouldn't eat. Today though he is much more lethargic, resting on a barren web with no cover.

Could he still be hardening? Is he feeling vulnerable over his missing appendages? I hope he pulls thru. He was my most feisty little ones.
Him yesterday

Him today....

Fingers crossed for my poor dude.

He is probably hardening, judging by how semi-transparent he is. He probably had a hard or dry molt and got stuck a bit, just give him some time to recover.

I'm glad you chimed in! I'm a newbie helicopter parent.
What do you see when you say he's semi transparent?

I see through the white in his legs, and the sunlight through his body makes him appear light brown--which is the actual color of their exoskeleton before they harden up into dark brown/black.

Going to post what I hope is my FINAL housing for the spoods. I'm pleased with how they all turned out though.

Venom, who had just finished. He's a tough one to feed. And never plumps up.
