I keep 3 and am hopefully hatching out some of their eggs very soon. They are very mean, i got tagged by one and i was wearing gloves and it still pinched. Mine are not too shy they are often out in the day basking and are very active at night. If your isent feeding then you really do have a problem mine eat about 2 dozen crics every other day. I strongly suggest on getting these interesting and very moody creatures, plus you can construct some very nice and natural cages for them. Send a pm my way if you want any additional info.

J dubz I've heard of people hatching out eggs and handling the lizards on a regular basis thus making them less aggressive.

Do you think you may end up trying to do this?

Actually yes i am going to, im not 100% sure if im going to keep the little ones and cycle them into my breeding project (not to each other or the parents) or sell them, but for the time i keep them i will try to handle them and see if i get any results.

I have a large Florida locality wc male. He was just plain scary the first two weeks. After those first two weeks he is a completely lap dog. He takes crickets, roaches and any other cb insect I buy from my hands and he peacefully sits by me when I type every once in a while. Tokays are my favorite lizard species. They have a personality, good size, good prices [Got mine for $12] and easy as cake to take care of. You should try one. They have quite the coloration!

yeah I must say I dont handle mine hes in a enclosure outside. Which brings me to my next point, they handle cool temps fine, mine lived on my patio "free range" in 40 degree weather for a few nights with out a heat lamp. I was away and the neighbor said he saw no red light on my patio and when I got back the light was burnt out:D

I have 3 Cb adults (1.2) that live together and are not really that bad temperment-wise. My favorite thing about them is when the male calls in the night...I love the sounds they make!

Yeah, I was standing in a condo parking lot and Tokays were talking to each other, it was awesome but some of the residents were pissed.

If You Are A First Timer With Geckos Go For A Day Gecko A Tokay Is The Worst Gecko To Start With I Have Six They All Bark Only Move At Night And Will Readily Bite But That's My Opinion Oh And Most Are Wild Caught Unless They Are Babies Make Sure It Eats Because If It Doesn't It Might Just Die After You Purchase It Hope You Enjoy Whatever You Get

Put it on paper towl or cypress. No reptile should ever be kept on coco. Have fun with him. :)

I worked with my CB tokay and it is very tame. I can pick it up at will, it has never tried to bite. Wild caught are a different story, they are nasty. {D

I've heard from many people including members of NERD, that captive bred babies can be easily managed and become much more docile than their parents with frequent handeling.

i agree tokay geckos look cool, but are mean, nasty and dont like people. stick to monitors. they are better. much better. (especially mangrove monitors, my favs)

i dont know why you would say no reptile should ever be kept on coco.. dosent make sence. ive bred and produced over 100 crested geckos easy using coco husk.. it is perfect for them to dig and lay there eggs. somthing that cant be done with cypress multch... however i do keep all my snakes on cypress and they do great.. somethings work better for one animal then it will another. it just depends on the situation.
