Talk about bitey things! :D

Are the pics a good representation of her color? I've never seen one quite that shade of blue...she must be very healthy. :) She's very pretty.

Whoa that thing is just plain creepy looking, reminds me of that lizard thing off Monsters Inc, what was his name? was it Randolph?

Very cool though and great pics.

You shouldn't have let him get that close to your nose.

That's a really good looking tokay. I love the lightish ones. It's just another example of a gorgeous animal that's seen as next to worthless only because it's common in the market. Meanwhile, there's no shortage of drab, hyperexpensive reptiles to 'invest' in.

Yeah, those pics are pretty much dead accurate of what her colors are. They were taken with no flash using natural sunlight from the large window in my herp/spider room.

I agree that they are very nice looking animals that get overlooked because of their availability in the herp world. IMO, Tokays are one of, if not the best looking Gecko species out there. They're easy keep and definitely keep you on your toes, especially during cage cleaning time lol. :D

I have never seen a tame one. They are beautiful but will bite.

LOL....I wouldn't dare use the word "tame" when describing a Tokay. They have a profound reputation for being quite unhandleable. They will readily bite and they can bite hard for an animal their size. An adult will easily draw blood and tear skin. They also have a bad habit of holding on...and not letting go. I can tell you from personal experience its not fun. They are definitely a look but don't touch captive.

I'll bet $20 that as soon as you got that gecko home and warmed up, it would not hesitate to bite the crap out of you lol. I've heard of and seen people at shows claim to have "tame" Tokays...what they do is just keep the animals much cooler than they should be and this of course makes the animals sluggish and unable to show their usual aggression. Its a marketing ploy to snag unsuspecting buyers into taking home a Tokay thinking they're getting a "one in a million" animal only to find the gecko attached to their finger after it settles into its new domicile. ;)

Very Nice Tokay!

Tokays are my favorite gecko/lizard.

I had a pair (female died last year, still have the male) that out of 10 eggs over 3 years; seven hatched. If you constantly handle the juveniles they will learn to tolerate being handled. Although one time, while cleaning their enclosure, my female clamped down on my finger. Fortunately I was wearing those kelvar cut resistant gloves. Still hurt but at least I was able to pull my finger out. After an hour or so, she finally let go of the glove.

Wonderful creature!
I've been trying to find one of those a month or so but haven't found a "proper" individual.
Great animals indeed :D

you said it. im just wondering if ever you were to raise this creature from it's birth until it grows old. will you be able to somehow reduce it's agressiveness? :?

Oh, they can draw blood easily. I just like to avoid being bit because I don't feel like walking around for 1/2 an hour with a lizard attached to my hand lol.
