I did it, I destroyed her home which was more of a double helix. It took an hour of plucking bits of dirt out. My goodness though, she's gorgeous. The second blurry picture is a more accurate representation of the blue.

Jalendu, Haploclastus devamatha 1.5"

I'm not sure why, but for whatever reason today, the 138th day since her last meal, my Aphonopelma moderatum AF (Luna) decided it was time to eat again. She was sticking legs out, so I offered a fat meal worm with no expectations that she would actually do anything besides turn her back on it, but to my surprise she took it!

I've got mixed emotions - on one hand, I'm relieved that she ate, but on the other hand I'm disappointed that she couldn't hold out a couple more days to make it an even 140... I'm also frustrated that I have to recalculate my feeder budget again, but if I don't account for that extra $0.03 every 3.5 months it'll compound and in 27 years I may come up short when it's time to buy another batch of feeders. Then what, huh?! Thanks a lot, Luna!
😉🙄😆

Sad day, our Davus sp Panama died. We had freezing temps and some yo-yo action but we prepared beforehand. All the Ts were moved away from the windows, a space heater was put in the room, their water is checked morning and night.

That particular specimen never seemed hardy though, and passed while tiny still. I was really hoping we'd beat the delicate sling stage but it didn't happen 😔

Very gravid Cyriocosmus perezmilesi, "Rosie", out for a drink. She's gotten huge these last weeks and candling clearly shows she's full of eggs, so hopefully she'll drop a sac soon. 🤞

Ornithoctonus sp Ranong Blue is on an eggsack. This was her about a week ago when she went off food prior to laying.

I'll peak in on her again next month, but for now it's Schrodinger's Eggsack.

I think we can all agree though the hobby needs more of these:

Yesterday I rehoused some slings that were in need of upgrades...

0.0.1 Eucratoscelus pachypus, 0.875" DLS (Rho):

0.0.1 Eucratoscelus pachypus, 1.0" DLS (Pi):

They've both grown VERY slowly, only molting twice since August and putting on less than 1/4" leg span each time. This is going to be a drawn out project...

0.0.1 Phormingochilus sp. Sabah red, 2.125" DLS (Chi):

Telling me thank you for the new enclosure:

I'm sorry. It really does suck when this happens and it's completely out of your control. I had a close call myself about 2 weeks ago when there were subzero temperatures and the power went out.

I was checking water dishes and saw my young adult female Ephebopus murinus, Virna, had thrown a bolus in hers. She's usually terribly shy but today she stayed out while I took the enclosure down and opened the lid. She even allowed me to take pics!

I thought she'd bolt when I took the bowl, but no, she stayed outside to watch. I put the clean bowl back and gave her a roach which she's currently eating on the spot, just happy with life.

Love this girl. 🖤
