In other news, I managed to successfully pair my 0.1 Ornithoctonus sp Ranong Blue two nights ago, so fingers crossed.

Rehoused this Grammostola rosea (bought as porteri) into a clear enclosure now that she's a confirmed female and is starting to show some nice colours. The pics don't do her justice, irl she's a beautiful dusky pink and warm grey. Very cute!

On molt watch for my little, lava girl. After refusing a live cricket last week, I left her a prekilled cricket this week. She walked over to it and gently laid one pedipalp and one foot on it until it stopped twitching. Then she turned around and went back to her hide. She’s never burrowed, but sits under the small, curved cork bark piece resembling sitting under a beach umbrella or maybe a shallow cave. While too small to sex, I’m excited to see her coral and deep grey develop into black and fiery red. She’s already a joy to watch as she makes a wave of outstretched legs with each step she takes.

It's a great feeling when you come home after a two-week vacation and all the animals are in great shape! It was very exciting with the reptiles...

Lycosa preagrandis molted in the meantime / T. blondi female

C. cyaneopubescens and G. rosea are fortunately almost indestructible

A. chalcodes sling unchanged (not for two weeks, more like a year)...

The reptiles are doing well too, were probably glad not to see the scaleless creature... / Heterodon nasicus "Toffeconda" 0.1

Tarentola mauritanica juvenile / ...and the offspring are doing well too

Rehoused the paired Aphonopelma sp Dragoons. She started heavily excavating her burrow in the old enclosure and the roof started to collapse bit by bit. Decided to play it safe and move her into this enclosure so she can safely burrow under the foam rock instead.

Went in to check on the 0.1 A. sp Dragoons that was rehoused earlier and she already started back to digging out a larger hide. Hopefully good news to come ;) .

And here's what was up until recently a very rare sighting of the one unsexed CB juvie Orphnaecus dichromatus I have in the collection. I just started to get into Selenocosmiinae spp this year and I've found that they're extremely shy overall and very slow to establish in an enclosure so far.

And here's the only Phormingochilus sp Sabah Dwarf I have in the collection, which is thankfully a female. I'm hoping I'll have a chance to acquire a male or at the very least some slings in the future when she gets up around the 4.5" DLS range. I must admit, this tarantula species has grown on me a bit now that the adult colors have started to come in and she's always out for a picture.

They're all beautiful spiders. I especially love the aphonopelma. She's very pretty...I hope she lays an egg sac for you!

Thanks. I do too, but then again I'm kinda not looking forward to it lol. I don't think many people realize just how small this species is and just how small the slings are going to be...

Unless you're talking about Chilobrachys, in which case you'll have them web up the enclosure and eat with gusto less than an hour after being rehoused.

The Dragoons female had a busy night. Had to remove all the burrow spoil this morning as she completely covered the cross ventilation on one side of her enclosure.
20230822_114138.jpg

Here she is enjoying a lateralis at the entrance to her burrow. She's tunneled practically to the back wall and I expect she'll start enlarging the burrow space tonight.

These little ones are finally ready to come out of the incubator. 2i Phormingochilus sp Sabah Blue from a surprise double clutch, maybe 25 or so healthy slings from a really small eggsack.
20230822_115556.jpg

And this is my 0.1 Orphnaecus dichromatus that still is having issues settling in after like 6 weeks. Atleast she's eating though.

Just getting into them as well. The MF Chilobrachys sp Orange has eaten for me, but she did web herself away as soon as I got her and has only made one or two appearances. The C. sp Orange slings however have adapted quite well. MUCH better than the Birupes slings atleast.
