Hello. So I have a Scolopendra alternans (The florida locality one) juvenile and a galapagoensis juvenile im getting in a week or two. So they are too small to eat even the smallest dubia nymphs I have maybe the galapagoensis can take down one but definitely not the alternans so I'm just asking if I can feed them like Isopods? Also currently the alternans has a substrate of organic topsoil and sphagnum moss mix should I switch to peat moss and sand mixture? I also want to know if I can supplement anything into their diet like fruits or calcium powder or anything.

How long are they? Small crickets won't work?
The alternans is 2 inches the galapagoensis is 3 inches. I do not have crickets and prefer not to use them since I live with roommates and crickets are too smelly and noisy in the house so im using isopods as feeders for them till they get bigger.

They also do not need calcium, and you can feed them different fruit once in a while.

or gutload the feeders with them
not many animals like eating isopods, you'd have to see if they even take them

Use small banded crickets, virtually no smell and not noisy until they're older.
alright i’ll buy some from the local reptile store. Also regarding the substrate should I also make the substrate for the alternans as peat and sand or keep it as it is. How long do banded crickets take to grow till they get smelly by the way

I feed my pedelings with pre killed feeders when they are small so I don’t have to worry about getting the perfect size feeders. Just get a bunch of crickets and toss them in the freezer. Thaw out the amount you need to feed and just remove any uneaten food the next day. Pre killed feeders kan be bigger than the peede itself and usually still gets accepted. I have seen that isopods gets accepted as food if you squish it a bit before feeding so they can "smell" them better.
