Thrixopelma Cyaneolum Husbandry

Hey all!
I'm getting a juvenile T.Cyaneolum shipped to me today and I just want to make sure my husbandry is right, since there really isn't a whole lot of info out there on them. Any input you experienced keepers have would be great! Thanks!

I keep my juvenile T. cyaneolum mostly dry with a good overflow of the water dish every now and again. A few inches of substrate with a hide (which mine never uses) in a normal terrestrial enclosure. Mine likes to move dirt and other stuff around and is overall quite active. Not sure if there's more to say. They really don't need anything special.

Ok great!!! That was the plan!! Thank you! I'm so nervous about the shipment (as we all get) lol so send some positive vibes it turns out ok!!! Should be here within the next couple of hours!

Good luck with your T! They might not need any special treatment, but they're kinda special in regards to availability, so congrats!
Oh, and prepare yourself for some serious butt-waving whenever you mess with it or its enclosure!

Yes, she's docile, but also quite curious and when annoyed she does the aforementioned butt-waving. I love her!

I got mine randomly from Classic Jurassic Exotics on fb. He had only one. But there is relatively good news. Mine may be young still, barely a juvenile buuut a friend of mine has three and I got mine for 2 reasons....one being they are a really nice species to have as a pet..and the other being I can contribute to my friends breeding program for them (hopefully!!!) So we can hopefully add some to the captive bred population.

The most docile tarantula I've ever been around. You were given perfect advice on how to keep them, exactly how I kept mine. Congrats, one of the best tarantulas out there IMO....but a lot of confusion regarding the species with regards to identification. Hopefully yours is the right kind, the giveaways are a huge mirror patch and deep red hairs on the abdomen.

"He" is only about 2" does have a fairly large mirror patch and the same orange-ish line by the eyes that my friend's has. A little bit of blueish tint as well. My friend has 3 older ones. Very docile, I can already tell. So time will tell, for sure.

As already mentioned, typical terrestrial setup kept mostly dry with a water dish, overflow the dish now and again, mine's kinda skittish and throws her bum in the air at most disturbances.

That's not a mirror patch but a mirror butt! I don’t think I've seen other species with such a large patch relatively to the body.

Haha thanks. I'm def not new here..I have a few Ts...but I'm more excited about this species than I was about all my others lol (not that they're not cool..just not as rare!)

Looks like T cyane to me

That first pic all colors, esp blue are washed out or something

Yeah I'm hoping next molt will show some more color...not alot of pics of slings out there to compare and they're only 2"
I can say he/she is definitely docile, when i took it out of the shipping vial it did not want to move..definitely a pet rock.
