Back story this female has not molted in 2 years. She is 4” DLS. My male hooked out the other day and with this species males are hard to come by. I want to pair her and my younger female with him but I cant tell if she is close to molt. Does she show any signs of close to molt? Such a gem to pass up on breeding. Also, Not a wanted ad but if anyone experienced has a fresh female please reach out. I dont want to lose this male since they are rare.

I could try and keep a brush and cup between them incase it goes south.

Wow! Beautiful! But how old is she?
Can't hurt letting your male try to mate, and if she rejects him... ...well, hasn't that kind of rejection happened to most of us?

I got her about 2 years ago from a local keeper that raised her from a sling. Not exactly sure on age. Hopefully I can give her a go. Waiting on a speem web now from my male.

Is she refusing food?

I wouldn't manipulate her to do this, but if you catch her against a wall try to candle her. Maybe shes fat with eggs.

I had an AF female years ago that laid a phantom sac!

The condition of body before molts didn’t look unusual to be honest. She never got really large in her abdomen compared to other species.
But you are right they are really rare. I’ve only seen them for sale a few times over many years.

They are an excellent species for beginners.

I hope you get some, might make me buy a couple!

Before sac was laid

i would probably try it

that said it doesn't hurt to try and find someone with a freshly molted female either

and if you do, be ready with that paintbrush or laddle, even if she doesn't look like she needs to eat him for her conditioning XD

Thanks for the replies. She is still eating, but my male actually ate the day before molting. I didn't even know he was about to molt so its hard to tell with her still.
I will try to candle her but she is rarely on the sides of the glass. She just peacefully crawls around from time to time on her cork bark or under her cork bark. Probably one of the calmest species I ever owned.

Sounds like mine and other owners too. Only larger species I know of that is so docile for all specimens I’ve heard of.
