Kukulcania species are fantastic in this regard. So are Eresus walckenaeri.
Wow... Reading about both of these. It sounds like female Kukulcania can live an amazing long time for true spiders. Eresus walckenaeri‎ are adorably stout little things!

It's so funny, too. I remember being told either by my parents or summer camp or both that wolf spiders and jumping spiders are defensive and bitey, and it's amazing that it's quite the opposite. It seems like they just move fast and have lot of personality. :)
True, the most bites spiders I myself know are the yellow sacs.

I'm pretty sure that's what was biting me. For about 3 nights I'd wake up around 2am with it on top of my arm biting me repeatedly. As far as I could tell I didn't do anything to aggravate it. It'd always leap off and run away before my husband or I could catch it. We figured out it was coming onto the bed via the curtains that were nearby and put a stop to its pathway.

Yeah they have a tendency to bite (or at least broad faced sac spiders which I think are very similar to yellow sac spiders) so that's definitely a possibility

The do make for interesting pets though. Do to being super active and all.

Take a gnaphosidae like S. blackwalli.
They don't require special set up or humidity . Just a bin of fine substrate and some bark and few leafs will be enough.Their venom is very weak and they themselves are not defensive.Only slight problem is that they are nocturnal and spend most of the day in Sacramento like web, but are active hunters who stalk and chase down their prey.
Thought they mostly prefer feeding on other spiders so food supplying might be just tad bit harder.
I am interested in these spiders but is it 100% necessary to feed them spiders as I don't have many in my local area

You could try a kukulcania or erategena but if you don't like spiders with a true web then a wolf or jumping spider would fit but if you want webbing you could try drassodes

Spiders should make the bulk of the diet, but you can give them crickets from time to time.

What would be the problems with feeding them mealworms crickets roaches etc and could they be weaned off spiders or something similar like some snakes must be conditioned to take mice

Not really. These guys have prey preference for spiders, so weaning them off is not possible.
Just stick to finding as much spiders for them as you can and give them crickets when you can't.
