im gong to quote a post of mine from another thread

"wolf spiders

-super common everywhere across the entire year and are free if there wild caught
-very hardy
-calm and not likely to bite unless you REALY mess up
-very good eaters that will eat pretty much anything you put in front of them
-not very demanding enclosure wise put some soil in a box deep enough to burrow if it feels like it even though i very rarely have them burrow, make a hole small and deep enough for them to hide in and put a water bottle cap with water in it or spray its enclosure down every once in a while and your done

and thats why my account name is wolfspidurguy"

another quote of mine from another thread: "in my opinion jumpers arent a good starter when i got my first jumper there was almost no info on care for them (or at least an affordable and accurate way) and i ended up giveing it an enclosure that was wayyyyyy too big and it died within a week because it was so stressed it wouldnt eat or drink. jumpers are intermediate at least"

Take a gnaphosidae like S. blackwalli.
They don't require special set up or humidity . Just a bin of fine substrate and some bark and few leafs will be enough.Their venom is very weak and they themselves are not defensive.Only slight problem is that they are nocturnal and spend most of the day in Sacramento like web, but are active hunters who stalk and chase down their prey.
Thought they mostly prefer feeding on other spiders so food supplying might be just tad bit harder.

Okay, I'm fascinated. We have a few around our house that are practically becoming pets anyhow. What's their lifespan like?

I've heard they are easy, but maybe it depends on the species. There are so many different types! Any spider (including Ts) can be stressed easily if not housed right.

well for me i was able to find absoulutely no info on how to find and catch them then there were no helpful care videos on youtube and i dont trust online care sheets (i dont know why i just dont) so when i ended up coaxing one out of its hidy sac thing i then had no idea how to house it. after 3 dead jumpers i perfected care

2 years on average and possibly even 3 if my memory serves me right.

It's so funny, too. I remember being told either by my parents or summer camp or both that wolf spiders and jumping spiders are defensive and bitey, and it's amazing that it's quite the opposite. It seems like they just move fast and have lot of personality. :)

well my favorate species of wolf spider the carolina wolf spider females live for up to 3 years but males... not so much but unless its fall your unlikely to find a males. i love carolinas but there the only wolf spider species ive gotten a defence pose from so just remember there fuse is a small bit shorter than other wolfers. as for other wolfers females also live for multiple years

wolfers are the second most docile species ive ever owned right below jumpers. i have had defence poses from carolina wolfers but not from any other species

Wow! What eventually worked for you?
small container thats wide enough for the jumper to roam around and tall enough for it to climb around with a stick leaning against the side of the enclosure and i recomend giveing it a hide but mine didnt seem to care. if it begins to web up the perimiter around the enclosure at the top that means its comfertable

another good option is the cellar spider they have the same enclosure i said as the jumper minus the hide and add another stick agaist the opposite side. there super hardy like seriously i focused all my time and energy on building a gameing pc for about 2 and i will admit i dropped the ball and the 4 other inverts i had died becides the cellar spider which i still have right now.
