I've had a P. audax living on the blinds in my kitchen for several months now. I check on him (recently molted male) daily, and have even brought him live food when it looks like he hasn't had much luck hunting on his own.
Well this morning I went to pour myself a cup of coffee, and just as I was about to pour, something large and black dove from the pot and plopped right into my mug. Luckily I hadn't added any of the hot liquid yet, but the poor spider landed in a half inch of Almond Joy flavored creamer. I immediately scooped him out and placed him on a paper towel, but he was on his back, legs curled in, not moving. He was coated in the thick creamer, so I gently placed water droplets on him to 'wash' it off, and after a few seconds he stretched and hopped back up. I put him back on the blinds, and he's currently sitting in the sun to dry, stretching and cleaning his legs in turn.
When it happened, I was totally mortified, thinking I'd killed him. It looks like he's going to be okay, but what a scare!
