That sounds like it.....bleach will kill anything....including us at a high enough level.
Just have to educate everyone that has access to your home.
This also includes innoxious things like air freshner and other such things......they went out of the house a long time ago.

Well I am sad to say the only 2 that are going to make it will be 2 of my P. regalis slings.. The others look to far gone in the curl..

I talk to her about the bleach and she.. Well needless to say I think she is taking it worse than me.. Mostly because she seems to be the cause of their demise.. :(

The 2 survivers will recieve the names Clorox & Bleachy..

Thanks for the help on the problem.. I will be keeping a closer eye to be 100% sure that its not the bark..
I also educated everyone again to keep ALL chemicals away from the tarantulas & other critters..

Sorry for your sad news.
At least now it will be sorted for the future.
Not good to blame anyone mate,it was an accident and not intentional.
Everyone here has lost spids for one reason or another in the past......everyone.

So I'm assuming you've traded/sold off the rest of your G. rosea slings?

I'd imagine that this would have killed most of them.

No I still have them.. They are actually in the living.. I never moved them out of the living room due to limited space in the back room..

Just open the windows and let the fumes go.....any that are left will be fine.
Don't freeze them though........not sure what your temps are over there but here in the UK,we have about an 8C average.

Oh I already got the door open and the windows open with a fan going to make sure there are no other fumes.. The temps here are a little cool.. Probably in the upper 50's lower 60's.. I am about to shut the doors and windows now..

Sorry for your loss(es), but I am glad that the cause seems to have been found. I am currently breeding P. irminia and soon to be breeding P. regalis and will keep you in mind with a couple of free slings. Thanks for sharing the information on this, hopefully this will prevent accidents like this from happening to other folks.

Thanks again everyone for all the thought on the issue.. I would have never thought to ask about chemicals being used.. I said they were none.. But I went ahead and asked her anyways..

I really just hope this doesnt happen to anyone else!

I'm sorry that this has happened, Tommy. I hope they can pull through.

Do you have a dog? And if you do, do you use a topical flea/tick/heartworm treatment?

Unless the pets handle the spids, there will be no problem.
We have used "spot on" (dogs) for the last 18 months with no problem to the spids.

Cass - We do have dogs.. But have not had a problem with fleas/ticks... So we have not felt the need for treatment.. We have a few months ago.. We used this stuff called Adam's Flea Spray.. But that has been several months since we have used that around the house..

We tend to have the flea problem more around the hotter times of the year.. But even then its not that problamatic..

what did i tell yah... fumes... silent killer.... sorry bro.... at least u now know what can be harmfull for your T's... this is a lesson well served to everyone.... ther are a lot of factors to be considered when an unexpected death happens this way, look for clue's, in what has changed in their surroundings.... you can always trace your step's... sorry for your loss once again... but for now you at least you have some closure...nice work in figuring it out....Redneck aka Sherlock...

It normally says on the flea/tick solutions to always wash your hands after use......more common sense than anything else I would have thought.
I used to use a mite spray called ARDAP for the snakes.....excellent stuff but needless to say, that is no longer used.

Sorry your Ts are not doing well, but it sounds like they were accidentally gassed.

Chloramines gas is formed when bleach is mixed with urine. It is not as bad as mixing bleach and pure ammonia, but the reaction still releases enough gas to burn your eyes in some situations. So if you have to clean urine, use pinesol type ammonia cleaner instead of bleach.

I don't know if this is what happened to your Ts, Tommy, but I think we agree that our Ts are sensitive enough to be severely affected by trace amounts of harmful gas.

I'm not a chemist, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

I cant say im a chemist either.. But you sound right on... After I aired out the room with my critters the 2 P. regalis slings have started acting better.. I cleaned out their homes and everything in it.. I kept them in ICU over night... Kept a close eye on them both... They are still a little sluggish.. But they are back to moving around.. So I felt safe enough to place them back in their enclosures.. The other 5 didnt make it.. :(

On a good note.. The bleach is gone... Also I have used pinesol before and never had an ill effect from any of my T's..
