So i felt like sharing this because it's actually pretty awesome... and it's been tested several times and really doesn't seem to fail.... If you have one or many tarantulas this is a pretty cool little project that takes little to no work to achieve.

so take some plastic tubes similar to the ones you get from purchasing a shoddy plastic throw-away shelf... well don't throw the legs out... take about four-six of them and make some kind of pile similar to this photo...

place them out of sight... in a corner or behind a chair or for example... I usually place a few of these suckers near a bookshelf in the corner of my T room.

If you have any Tarantulas that get out - there are good odds that they will pick a tube and stay in it. Also works good for crickets too.. which favors both you and your Tarantula. Even though it may have escaped... it COULD be a getting a decent diet if you let some crickets go.

My tube system has caught several terrestrial T's - even a few arboreal because in most households... there aren't too many places for an Arboreal T to hide... these tubes worked a Dyscolus that got out a few months ago.. too lazy to look for it.. regardless...but tonight I was like... I wonder if it's in one of those tubes - BAM! - I have enough loose crickets that I seem to be breeding quite a few local species of spiders so of course she's got a nice little rump going on...

The tube system has worked six out of six times when I get an escaped adult. Im not perfect, I make a mistake here or there - but this tube system has prevented it from ever actually becoming a "lost tarantula".

Since I had to rely on photobucket to post that image I figured I would show off the beginnings to my Exotic Pet Shop opening in Richmond, VA February 2013.... This is the reptile room ! Im still not finished with the wall prints for the T room but this gives you an idea of how awesome this store will be.

Good idea but it seems like a lot of ts getting loose to me....lol. but at least they didn't get lost for good. I mostly have slings and usually if I open an enclosure that has a sling that's out and about I put the enclosure inside a big plastic tub to prevent escapees.

Excellent advice - thank you. Threads such as this keep me coming back to the boards, what's your favorite/least favorite is my tarantula molting what do I feed my G. rosea and is it dying, well, not so much.

If you have that many escaping then you are doing something seriously wrong.
I have at the moment about 450 T's, sometimes this number may rise a few hundred if i have a sac or two but i cant remember the last time that i had an escapee.
