What's the temperament like on these guys? I remember reading that supposedly they're one of the most defensive tarantulas.
The Cyriopagopus doriae are meant to be pure evil and venom really bad. I got her from one of the largest UK sellers and supposedly WC so was expecting a ball of fury but she has been fine so far. Got a nice deep burrow and just sits there nice and happy.

Update on the Lampropelma nigerrimum, as this is just nuts. Always threat poses like that as soon as you go anywhere near the enclosure. Also does what I can only describe as slow motion striking. Very deliberate and slow and seems to be able to spring forward from hind legs like a slinky and then recoil 🤣

Oh, so they're actually in the Cyriopagopus genus now? I've always thought they're Haplopelma doriae. Well, you learn something new every day. :)
Genus changes occur more than I change my underwear! Ha ha
Looks like as DNA, species ID and much more info and data is gathered, plus other factors such as locale, more change is inevitable in the hobby. Gives the label.printer something to do and also helps if you like playing 'alphabetti spineretti' (owning at least one of each genus based on alphabet).
I did a post on that a while back, there was some really good results when members shared their list. 👍

Exciting day in The Spider House today.

I discovered that my paired Megaphobema mesomelas has made a nest.

What is fascinating is that she made the exact size and shape the coconut hide I gave her for the purposes of nesting!

I do not want to disturb her and so this is the best pic I could get atm.

I also have x2 AF versi that have egg sacs but I am really excited about this one as there are very few Megaphobema mesomelas on the hobby.

Also included a screen shot from the pairing video.
