Since I started this with my mild poke, I'll toss in my 2 cents...

Sam, the issue is context. If what you meant to say was something along the lines of "That sperm web looks similar to a moulting mat, cool", then *that* is what you had to say to avoid being misunderstood. The most common way of interpreting a "It looks like..." statement without any further context is an attempted explanation of what is going on.

So, when you said what you said, regardless of your intended meaning, it certainly read like you were trying to explain that the spider might possibly be moulting. End of story for why people made a little fun with your statement.

As for calming down, I never saw anybody get riled up until Telson called some very gentle ribbing "slamming". The only big deal was created between someone else's ears.
