Hello

So i startet with stuffing T's not long ago. I did just 6 Spiders. But i'd like to show you some of them.

This was my first try. My male Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens in a Ikea glasdome.

I posted this on a swiss tarantulaboard. And a other user with a big collection contactet me. She has regularly some dead Tarantula (Males, old Femals). But she doesent like it to throw them away and startet to send them to me ever since.

This is a female Phormingochilus arboricola on treebark in a 3D Pictureframe. (And a Dubiaroach)

20240528_103230.jpg
Male Pamphobeteus sp. Mascara
I tried to do the threathposture. Did it with wires inside the legs.
But for the sake of a story, i putted a hornet in front of him. So he has a reason to do it! Yeah i know... its a euopean Hornet.
The hornet suicidet herselfe in my Livingroomlamp btw.

Granny Nhandu tripepii.
Ikea stopped selling those glasdomes, so i had to improvise with glas leftovers from my enclosure building projects. And i like it a lot better this way.

Old Brachypelma hamorii female.
This was my first "custom order"
The owner saved the spider as a kid 25+ years ago from a toiletdeath and kept it eversince. Was his only spider and he get used to her presence. So i tried my best that she will look alive for ever. I spiced up her enclosure a little bit, gave it a more natural looking vibe and put her back in.

I hope you guys like it.

Feel free to ask questions or post your own taxidermy projects!

These are amazing!!!! Do you have to worry about mites or do you do something to mitigate that? I would love to have something like this.

Bravo ❤❤❤❤❤

WOW these are gorgeous. How did you learn how to do this? I definitely would have done this with a couple of mine.

How many Swiss Francs on average do you charge?

There is always a risk. Even professional preserved Animals are never 100% save from pests.
Mites, moths, bacterias and funghis normaly prefer to munch on moist stuff.
So its important to get out as much stuff as you can and let the rest fully dry. And there is always the possability to use pesticides. But i don't want to use them, if it's not necessary.

My oldest project is about 4 years old and still fine. So far so good.

I watched one or two videos and tried it by my selfe. It isn't that hard.
A little bit try and error. And inventing own tecniques.

If you guys wish, i can try to write a step by step instructions with pictures in english. Hopefully my english is good enough to write a instruction....

I never intendet to do it for money. Beside the last spider i kept everyone for my selfe.
For the last spider i just charged the material costs and he gave me a good tip on top.

If i would calculate it like it was a buissnes. It would be around 550 chf just for the material and working houres. Excluding vat and other costs a buissnes has to charge.

That would interest me, and your English is very good. I watched a few videos, and it appears as if the abdomen is the only part that people empty out and replace with cotton. Some folks even separate the abdomen from the cephalothorax, work on the abdomen, and then glue it back on. All the work is begun after the animal has been rehydrated, so it's flexible. I'm curious how you re-harden all the parts, once you've determined how they should be positioned.

I know many Swiss. Their English is better than most USA citizens.
I think quite a few people would be very interested in replicating your work; people ask this regularly enough.

It occurred to me that the "static grass" method of creating grass on a model railroad layout might be a way to rebuild missing hair on a tarantula. Apparently, the grass, which consists of nylon, rayon, or polyester fibers charged with static electricity, comes in a variety of colors and lengths. Once the grass is applied, touch it up with an airbrush.
