I know for me true. I’m extremely addicted to tarantulas. Sometimes I don’t understand how everyone is not fascinated by tarantulas.

Yes and no for me. It really is dependent on the individual and how excited and passionate they are on it. It's like with every new hobby a person tries out for the first time. If they're excited and passionate about it, it can possibly become some what addicting.

For me it’s the immensity of personalities, colors, and lifestyle. It’s kinda overwhelming

I don't know if it's a hobby but the drug hobby is worse IME. Fishing and buying records and music gear do it to me too haha

i have never really found it addicting in the sense of compulsively buying specimens and letting your collection get out of hand and too big to handle - i don’t want to “catch em all” i just want to keep a small collection of species that i love personally and that are unique/rare

eg: rn i’m obsessed with species of the 4th kind 👽

As you get older, you’ll find women are the most addictive hobby. They come in all different colors, personalities etc.. if I were to recommend a good beginner species. Start with a nice girl from your local church, after some experience, then you can move up to more advanced species like strippers and so on.

False as well for me. I keep a variety of tarantulas and they are boring as hell. Cool to look at when out and about but far from addicting

Well I feel embarrassed
the hobby can be highly addictive - AB just seems to be populated with experienced keepers with good heads on their shoulders - go to arachnid groups on social media and you’ll find people talking about acquiring specimens like it’s a crack score

i definitely think it’s something the hobby collectively should be aware of and actively combat - nothing at all to be embarrassed about friend
