Vincent,

If I recall, H. h. nigrocarinatus = H. nigrocarinatus (Lourenco & Ythier, 2006). It was elevated to species level (Lourenco & Ythier. 2006. Description of a new species of Hottentotta from the Cape Verde Islands. Boletin Soc. Entomol. Aragonesa 38: 71-75).
Eric posted the link to the paper on AB a few weeks back. Aside from that, everything seems up to date and accurate.

Hey Vincent,

Kovarik published an article about the scorpions of Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Somalia. There is passage about a couple of Hottentotta species. I am at work right now, so I can't give you any info. I have the document at homme somewhere..
Ciao, Michiel

Michiel,

Glad you pointed that out. I had totally forgotten that Kovarik published that material in his paper.

Vincent,

Go to:

http://www.butbn.cas.cz/klimes/arachno/kov0.html

(The above is the bibliography of Kovarik and many of his papers are available from the site for download - wish more taxonomists/scorpion researchers would do the same!)

and download the paper and make your determinations based on the contents. Examples are: H. eminii and H. fuscitruncus are synonyms of H. trilineatus and H. h. niloticus is elevated to full species status.
