I too would love an update! Is this species found in South Carolina? Beautiful!

To my knowledge it’s not found in South Carolina, Just TN and AL. The whole species complex is (as far as we know—and we know so little) restricted to the Cumberland Plateau region of the two states.

Hey! I’m in the Nashville Tn area and just saw these posts about finding them! I’m wondering how your efforts were going and where you’re hunting and collecting? I’m in love with c. Cumminsi and have been searching all spring and summer it feels like with no luck!

Keep looking! I have no experience with this particular species so I' not sure where you might have better luck finding them, but it never hurts to do another survey. I've been exploring the same trails and areas in my neighborhood for several years now and I keep finding new things every season. I didn't even know we have polyxenid millipedes until this year, and I've been able to find a myriad of interesting myriapods, albeit not exactly common.

A little update.

All my males died over the summer but the females lived. They all burrowed down around October and molted then they started resurfacing around January when the room temperature at my house started to hit around 72 and above. No babies though and I don't think these retain sperm after a molt so i plan to go back to their spot in few weeks and collect some males .
