Hi guys, sorry for my english first of all, i have some confusions about international tarantula shipping. Im from turkey and some species are really hard to find here, and there is a guy i know who is importing tarantulas here. I bought many species from him before but most of them was hardy species i mean they dont die easily in shipping, like p. murinus dcf, harpactira cafreriana etc etc.. Now this guy is about to do a new import from Poland and there is some species im interested in the for sale list but i have some confusions if they can get alive of all this road from poland to istanbul turkey.. And this guy dont gave any money guarentee, all risk is on me. What do you guys think? Some nw arboreals can resist this road?(avicularia avicularia m1 and some more)

That would be a pass for me. I only buy things from someone if they actually have it in their possession. No pre-orders, no group orders, no drop shipping, etc. If you don’t actually have the thing you are selling me, then I’m not taking the risk. Simple as that.

no guarantee or some sort of dead on arrival contract: nope.

i mean, if you ordered, and got one dead out of ten, ok, it happens.

but if you get them all dead, ouch. all dead would be quite a bother and definitely require some sort of compensation.

in canada, a dealer very far from me (i dont order there, i like to look at their prices), offers a tarantula replacement but shipping fees are to be paid agaim by buyer. And proof needs to be send within the day recieved. Many people in my province order from
them because they have different choices at times.

yes i see, actually here is same, if you buy a tarantula and if you recording while unboxing for proof it and if tarantula is dead then the seller pay you back. but its an international shipping, turkey is not in european union and animal shipping in the country from europe is illegal, so this guy doing this import with illegal ways and he take the responsibilityies, and if you want buy some spiders from abroad that guy is your only choice so thats why i had bought some from him before. but you guys right i think i will not take risk this time for some fragile arboreals

you said it: ILLEGAL.

that answers all your questions.

i would never encourage illegal business. This ruins the hobby and tarantula conservation in the world.

it sucks if you cant get anything because of regulation, but there has to be some local species that are accessible through breeders.

i dont think its worth the risk. How many tarantulas do you have? Maybe something common can be exciting, when housed properly.

up the challenge, try to work with heating, and live plants. Maybe even breeding a difficult species. That can make common an adventure.
