I'm going with orangish red on the M.mesomelas.But folks can look at my media page, and make up their own minds on that.
Even after a fresh molt,I won't, personally,refer to it as red.Maybe a brick color?.

I had no idea that Avics are only blue when young, or at least some species are!
This only demonstrates that you don't own Avics. That's a serious problem that needs to be rectified, otherwise the Tarantua Authority will be taking your collection. There's a whole bunch of Avics that are grey as slings, including A. purpurea.

Oh noes!

Aren't Avics more difficult to care for at least as slings? I feel like I see posts all the time to that effect. If I were to select one, besides researching their care and temperaments, I would want to know what color the adults of each species are but this is not at all clear to me looking through the gallery. I see a grey-blue one (Ybyrapora diversipes) that's pretty, but maybe it's just in transition from juvenile to adult colors? A. purpurea or A. merianae might be good options. What do you have and what would be your recommendations? :cat:

Yes they are, diversipes are super pretty as slings, not so much as adults, ie not as bright.

A. avic are good. A. metallica are great! I've owned many different localities. I always recommend A metallica. They are like the G. pulchripes of Avics in terms of disposition.

Euathlus sp. red
Euathlus euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi (blue)
Not completely all over pigmented but definitely have opaque, iridescent parts that could make the list imo!

Another vote for the A.metallica. Those white-tipped dark blue setae are really pretty.
Mine is super calm as well. Unless there's flies for dinner, then all bets are off and she behaves like a Pokie :D
