Tarantula with white near spinnerets

Recently I realized that my tarantula had white under it spinnerets and on them. I would like to clarify whether this is normal fecal matter or something I should be worried about such as constipation. She went for a long period without eating and recently started eating again. If you can not see the white in the photos please let me know and I will try to take better ones. Is this normal or something I should be worried about. She is my first tarantula so I may be over thinking it, but I would like to clarify for both her sake and mine. Thank you so much :)

Photos aren't clear enough to see what you mean. What you are talking about is called impaction if you want to search that and see if it can give you answers.

I wiped the area off with a wet Qtip and it did come off. It appears that no more has developed since last night. I did some research and it seems as though all tarantulas with impaction die. Is this true? should I be very worried? I have not seen her kick her but she keeps losing more and her bald spot continues to grow by the day. Do I need to seek vet or professional help for her?

More light? for the photos? thanks
Yes, just for the photos. If she can’t poop, there really isn’t much you can do and vets don’t really exist for spiders, or are extremely rare. The combined experience of the keepers here is your best bet. Do you normally see her feces around the enclosure? Have you seen any recently? If you haven’t watched this, Tom Moran has a video here. Most people don’t recommend ICU’s as they can do more harm than good, but there is a lot of other valuable information in this video.

thank you so much! I do see her feces sometimes around her enclosure. The last time I saw it was last week I believe. I haven not seen any since. Should I have seen it more recently? thank you so much for you help. She still seems very active which I believe is a good sign.

It was propbably a big poop. And a bit got stuck. It wasnt much as its barely visible in the photos but i see what you meant.

Maybe the feeders were extra moist.

If tarantula is experiencing impaction, then it might show signs. There are many videos you can watch to familiarize yourself with this.

Even if we describe it, to actualy see and hear keepers experiences in live format is very helpful.

do you think I should put her In ICU with damp paper towels in order to hopefully release some of the feces?

No, they often do more damage. If she is active and not showing any other signs, just observe for now. Remember, impaction is rare. Have you seen her drink water?

I have seen her sitting in her water bowl at times. She will sit in her water bowl but not really drinking, just sitting in it. Should I set her on her water bowl? do you think her impaction will go away? thank you for your advice :)

No. Tom Moran put in ICU because he knew this was impaction.

It does not mean yours is impaction. Thats why you need to research this more.

The white on Tom Morans tarantula
Is intense.

Yours is just bad whipe butt for now, for what we can see.

Do you feel like your tarantula is dieing? Fading fast like a flower in the sun?

Being slow and lethargic is too different things.

Mr Moran put the tarantula in ICU because it was litteraly dieing.

Watch atleast 12 impaction videos before you decide to assume you tarantula is impacted.

I have seen her sitting in her water bowl at times. She will sit in her water bowl but not really drinking, just sitting in it. Should I set her on her water bowl? do you think her impaction will go away? thank you for your advice :)
Some of mine have done that. Air could be dry. Just needing a breather.

Its very complexe. Read on the subject.

sounds good, right now there has been no more fecal matter on her spinnerets so its very hard to tell. I have done research now but I am still unsure. I will give it time and see what happens. thank you all for your help.

Agreed. Granted we are not there, but I don’t think it is. Just keep an eye on her for now and you can always come back here if you have more concerns. Good luck to you and your spider. :)
