Tarantula surgery

So my P. regalis appears to be stuck in his molt. My best guess is that a leg or two is stuck, from the appearance of things - but you know how confusing things can be. I'm pretty sure I saw a full abdomen and pretty new fangs so.. that leaves legs.

I think I'm going to make an attempt at helping him out, so I'm just looking for any advice/tips. I've only done tarantula surgery once and it was successful but it was no pokey... ;P

i don't think you'd be in danger until its fangs harden, and it'd obviously be too late at that point. so what exactly did you do before? if you know what you're doing and the molt's not progressing, then i'd say go for it.

How long has it been since it's appeared stuck? Has the exuvium hardened? If so, water might help soften it up and you might be able to just slide the legs out.

Worst case, if only a couple legs are stuck, it'll cast 'em and regen them next time.

Good luck!

He's fine!

I reached in there with the forceps, grabbed the molt and he just jumped right out of it.
