Hi, I was wondering if Tarantulas groom themselves cause both of my Ts tend to take there legs and start rubing on the underside of there bodies, they also take their leg and put the tip in there mouths then start the process all over again, what are they doing???

grooming

My rosehair does that frequently, especially after a meal, and so does my stripeleg (A. geniculata). I noticed the rosehair (male) doing that with much vigor as soon as i brought the female stripeleg home and put her cage next to his. It is rumored that they are stimulating or stimulated by something or you know, in the mood. But my question is if the grooming is actually grooming or can they sense other T's in the area? Is he primping?

Mine groom themselves as well and display quite a talent for it... They might be pulling one leg through their fangs and using 2 other legs to clean other areas all at the same time. I do happen to remember the 1st time I saw one grooming and for a moment, it appeared to be eating it's leg...

Yeah, they're like eight-legged cats, except they spit out cricketballs instead of hairballs! =D
