Hello. I am quite new to the hobby and have a couple of T's. I've noticed an interesting behaviour from my G. pulchra. After eating, it slowly crawls towards the water dish and throws the leftovers into water. At first I thought it was just a random action, but it's been doing it over and over now. Is there any meaning to this? It never did this before (nither I've seen my other T's doing it), but again I had it only for 3 months, so it's not like am very familiar with its behaviour.

I have several Ts who throw their bolus - the term for the "leftovers" - into the water dish. I honestly have no idea WHY, but it does make for easy clean up on my part lol Tarantulas do a lot of things that we humans cannot fathom :)

Tarantulas do this often. If they aren't doing that they are filling their water dishes up with substrate.

Thank you for the replies! Was curious if there was a practical reason to this, guess not! It does look pretty funny when it does it though.

Welcome to Tarantulas and Their Water Dishes - A serial drama that no one understands (except the tarantulas - maybe)
