I couldn't resist it, I and bought a Indian Ornamental.

However the guys wern't sure which one it was.

They wern't sure whether he was a P fasciata or a P striata as someone didn't label them up properly.

I wondered if any of you guys know?

I have have attached a picture of the specimen.

Either way it's gorgeous and I think now I have crossed the barrier and become a proper T keeper now

Ok Indian Ornamental is normally Poecilotheria regalis. And that does not look like a juvi Regalis. I am thinking Ornata myself.

its lacking any green'ish color , although its carapace says otherwise. Also the marking on its legs screams ornata. here is a pic comparison

I dont see how ventral pics are going to help you much pederseni dont really have any outstanding markings in that area. I guess it could help tell you what its not.

If it helps to ID the T, it has iridescent green on the tarsus of each leg.

I have it narrowed down to fasciata, ornata, smithi or pederseni.

We can safely dismiss smithi because of it's rarity, so we'll have to compare pictures of fasciata, ornata and pederseni.

The coloration and markings on your spider don't really look anything like ornata to me, so I'm going to rule that one out. The spider is a little too light to be pederseni, so my preliminary guess is fasciata.

Of course if that folio stripe doesn't lighten up, it could very well be a male pederseni or fasciata.

I'm no expert, but this is my best guess ;)

Edit: Just read the post above mine. I'd wager fasciata almost certianly.

Well a P spp. specialist has said it's almost certainly a juvenile P pederseni

So I think we have finally gotten to the bottom of that mystery.
