I live in Evansville, Indiana and there are no pet stores nearby that carry a selection of invertebrates other than hermit crabs and I already keep 4 of them. Does anyone know of any reliable breeders or outlets of Tarantulas within a few hundred miles of the South West Indiana, Tri-State area where I might purchase Ts, slings, juves or supplies?

Thanks Chris, I have considered the online option, however I would like to meet some local folks who share in my fascination of this somewhat obscure hobby and quite possibly get around that $40 a pop shipping charge one must pay for an online transaction. I do suspect, however I will be doing quite a bit of online buying so I wonder which merchants the members here on AB trade with online; here in the States?

Catfishrod perhaps...Grom Grom maybe?

Online is how most ts are purchased by those serious in the hobby...not always, but most often. Buying online not only gives you the best opportunity to shop for lower prices, but it will greatly enhance the number of species available to you.

You could always wait for a reptile show/expo though the small ones usually don't have that many t's.

I agree with the online option.

I agree with meeting local people who are into the hobby, that's good.
Can i ask what's that $40 charge? Are credit cards, bank charge etc? I don't know because i only use PayPal or other Italian cards.

Chris,
The $40 is the overnight shipping charge for live animals.

St. Louis is an option I just might exercise, thanks for the suggestion, Chris.

I just laughed because the reason was a couple short words away from "$40" in the very quote @Chris LXXIX used. :mooning::rofl::kiss::smug::rofl:

Thanks Bob, it looks like the online option is one I shall be using quite a bit.

Their is a pet store across the state line here in ohio that i frequent. I know it's a few hours away from evansville (being further north), but they, at times have a decent selection of tarantulas to choose from. The owners of the store are very helpful and have a bit of knowledge concerning tarantulas. I ended up with a B. Sabulosum, and a GBB for a decent price. If you dont mind the long drive, (Never been to evansville, so i am just guessing on time) this hole in the wall pet store, is a good place to visit. (I always forget the name of the store, now that it changed hands a couple of years ago).

Thank you Sir, I have found a pet store ( Harp's Pets) right here in Evansville that carries the odd T, pinhead crickets, supplies and has a staff that is somewhat knowledgeable.
