I hear ya....I play in a Metal band for fun, and almost all my friends are musicians.....musicians are nuts in the first place, double so for Metalheads. Most of the Metalhead musicians I know keep exotic animals, or would like to. I guess it's equal parts shock value, and being naturally drawn to that which is "different." Normally, you'd think they'd be a bit understanding. Alas, the reaction is the same across the board: "Steve, you're outta your f#@king mind!!!!!"

When this happens, I point out that: First, my collection of T's costs less per month than either of my two cats. Second, the little buggers practically thrive on neglect, so I rarely have to worry about them. I'm not gonna lose an appendage if I get tagged....and take up far less space, and far less electricity. And finally, because they are so "different" of an animal to keep, they most certainly provoke stronger reactions far more often, in far more people, than reptiles do. Who's nuts now???

Wow, looking at everybody's posts about their spidey addictions makes me actually feel better. The four slings I want to buy total to just over $60. I'll probably get worse after I've had my new pets. {D
