i've only found soli's in scrapes or running around. of course, this has a huge observer effect going on, because i don't normally dig up a random sampling of holes in the ground. i've found them in everything from sandy soil to soil with no loose accumulated sand for hundreds if not thousands of feet. i suspect the substrate material doesn't matter as much as managing humidity and other microhabitat attributes

I think i'll give him enough soil to dig in if he desires. It won't hurt to give him the option. He seems to enjoy digging. He dug to the bottom of his current home a few times. If he decides not to and just is satisfied w/ the hides i provide. Thats great too! He's still working on the ends of his legs. Poor guy has to be pooped by now! I'd image that crawling out of ur skin is very tiring.

I've only found them in my and my neighbors house. They need to not go over there... she squishes spiders, scorpions, and any other "creepy crawly". She killed a sun spider just yesturday :( I wish more people were open to education. Told her. Just cause it crawls, doesn't mean its gonna kill u, and deserves death...frustrating :(

He is now molted! But. Now he's all tangled up in his leftovers. He's surprisingly adept at untangling himself. Well. Thank you all for the help. I am very appreciative. :D
