i disagree with the newspapper... they will do much better on top soil mixed with about 20% leaf litter. its the most natural way to go and the most relistic to there enviorment.. not to mention its rediculously cheep.. i dont like cypress that much... its to awkward for them to walk on and rest on

I would not use wood chips of any kind. And I disagree with soil too because it is too difficult to keep clean. I used newspaper when my Cyclura lewisi hybrid was very young, now I don't use substrate of any kind for either my Cyclura or my green. The green free roams in the back bathroom and the Cyclura lives in an extra large dog crate with a vinyl floor that is very easy to keep clean. When she is in the tub or outside during the day I wipe it down with antibacterial wipes. Both iguanas have branches and pillows. The Cyclura no longer ever uses her branch, though she did as a juvenille.

Basically care for a Cyclura of any kind will be similar to that for a green, while keeping in mind that the Cyclura is terrestrial rather than arboreal. Diet is exactly the same.

You didn't say how old your rhino is, but if he is very young keep in mind that the first two years will be hard, but then it gets easier which is just the opposite as having a green iguana!!!

Cyprus works well as does the soil mixed with leaf litter. Throwing earthworms in there will help keep it clean if you have a deep substrate. Just make sure you keep it clean by changing it as needed. The same soil that works well can be a great soil for growing bacteria if left dirty.
