QUICK TIP: for some reason all the "reptile" plants and rocks cost like 16bucks for even the smallest ones and yet right next to them in the "fish" isle they have a massive selection of some really nice looking plants, hides, rocks, you name, good quality and made of the same same materials it for literally $2, i bought 3 plants for $4..makes no sense to me.
Quicker tip: Go to any hobby store - Joanne's, Michale's, Hobby Lobby, etc. They almost always have clearance fake plants on sale in any color or shape you can imagine. I just wash them in scalding hot water and Dawn dish soap, never had an issue.

I do that too, also the dollar store too. I can never understand why people would actually buy the "reptile" ones. Why spend upwards of 25bucks on a fake plant when you can get the same, if not better, for a couple bucks.

I have the peat separated into 2 bags right now, one with the fine powdery peat i filtered out with a kitchen strainer, and one with all the wood chips, bark, moss chunks and stuff that was left over, ill probably add a hand full of it in with the mix of peat and coco, removing all the larger and harder bits of course just to give it some texture :)

Please don't use rocks. If your t climbs, it could fall off and onto the rocks. That could end up a tragedy.

I dont, I was just stating that the reptile and the fish section sell the exact same things but the reptile ones are 5 times more expensive lol

10,000,000 wild tarantulas can't be wrong;)
Yeah, but those wild tarantulas are not picking up the ground they burrow in and putting it on a shelf. :p

The sand and clay content of generic topsoil makes it extremely heavy and dries like concrete if used by itself. Unless it is used in small quantities, it should be mixed with coco fiber or peat most to lighten it up and make it easier for a tarantula to burrow in.
