I have an L4 cilnia humeralis in a vial with a fake plant and nothing else. I was just wondering if it's recomended to use substrate or if it's ok to leave as is.

They dont really need substrate, you can use but is mostly asthetics or to help on humidity

If it's in a vial just make sure there's room to molt. Padkison, the resident mantid expert, reccomends that the height be about 3x the length of the mantid.

None of mine have substrate right now.

Kool it is in a vial, and funny you mention Padkinson because that's who I bought it from.
