Hello everyone. I hope you are well today. I was hoping you could shed some light on an enquiry regarding my pink zebra beauty (eupalaestrus Campestratus) substrate. I live in a very hot country and we are experiencing some unreasonably hot days. I am looking to increase humidity as I am not home much to mist as often as I’d like. I was hoping you could tell me if sphagnum moss (see image attached) is appropriate to assist me in this. I am just thinking of putting some in a corner of the tank as an option for her and something to help with humidity. Please can you advise if this is acceptable to this specific species or generally would be ok. Thanking you in advance!

Just use a waterdish that's fairly deep enough to retain water for a couple of days.

Thank you for the reply. I have been doing this and I noticed some early dehydration signs, which I’ve tended to. I’m hoping to find a better alternative to avoid this becoming a problem. Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated :bag:

Its much easier and IMO smarter to simply offer deeper substrate...this way you can pour water in and keep the deepest parts damp and this will last a significant amount of time.... misting is a pointless exercise as its effects last less than 20 minutes.....misting should NEVER be done as part of husbandry, but rather its a vessel to offer an easy drinking opportunity.

Thank you for your insightful reply! I did this and ended up having mushrooms growing out my substrate and some white mould? Not sure if they were cause for concern but it was mildly worrisome but thank you for your advise I will definitely take it into consideration.

so, most likely, either your ambient humidity is high, which would mean that you wouldnt need to worry about moisture in the sub, or you don't have adequate airflow.
