Hi everyone!

I have 2 ID requests.

One is a roach, and the other.. I don't know WHAT it is. :?

The roach I found outside under some leaves, near an old rotting log. The other insect I found in my pinhead cricket's container. It seems to forage much as an Isopod (Pillbug, rollie-pollies-to name a few nicknames).

Does anyone have any idea what these are? Oh, and I live in NE Florida, south of Jacksonville. Any comments/ideas welcome, and thanks in advance! :)

Here are the links to the pics. Hopefully the links work! S.

The larva is a common occurrence in pet store feeder insect bins. It's a dermestid beetle larva.

The roach appears to be Periplaneta australasiae, though I've not seen an immature of this species for ten years.

 You hit it right on both ID's, BiC! What was really cool is, I have a mature specimen also. I looked at some pics on BugGuide and was surprised! I thought they were 2 different species.

I thought the immature roach was really cool-looking, as I have never seen them other as adult form.

The Dermestid larva is another one I've never seen, although we DO have the Varied Carpet Beetle. (I rarely see these)

Thank you so much for the ID's! I will release the 2 roaches back were I found them. What to do with the larvas? Maybe my Jumpers will like them, LOL!

Thanks again! S.
