it also could be just an everyday freak of nature lol hmmm not that freaks of nature are an everyday occurrence ... but anyway,

but this is not the topic.
I would be sure to do what you can to make it survive and grow. I would not however breed it unless you happen upon the opposite gender in the same or similar modifications and keep them separate .

the eyes look black (not red/pink) so it is not an albino in the usual sense of the word. It does not appear to be a leucistic as it would have to be white with dark eyes and the spider has the dark eyes but a creamy color to it. If the spider continues to exhibit that creamy color as it gets older, you may want to look into discussing with some snake folks who are in full understanding of genetics to look into the possiblity of seeing if it is a Tyrosinase-positive albino. As I understand it, a T-positive albino is an albino that exhibits some leaking of melanin giving the animal a creamy-tan-brownish color and which also leaks into the eyes making them darkish instead of red/pink. A T-negative animal is your standard albino with no melanin pigments at all and the red/pink eyes.

Nice litlle A. moderatum, cannot wait to see what it will become.

Similar to what happened to me last year with a P. murinus clutch, except that it was on a much "larger" scale in my case... exactly, well almost exactly 25% of the eggsac, sounds promising...

Here are the larvae, that is when Amanda noticed it

a normal looking dude at 2nd instar

and abnormal one at 2nd instar

notice anything interesting, look at the eyes, they have no pigment...

a bigger one

close up

a picture from today

take care

Martin! Very cool! If you ever send a shipment to the US...let me know. I'd like to try to get one of these and do some DNA work on them to compare them to "regular" P. murinus...

As opposed to??? Creationism? Sorry...I don't believe myths. But I do believe in scientific facts that have been proven.

Chris
evolution is a theory, not a fact as it cant be proven. however it is a theory that does mostly fit the fossil record. and as any decent 7th grade science student can tell you, to be done in the scientific method you have to observe it and reproduce it, so...

darn off topic again.

anyway. both sides of the creation / evolution argument will never prove to the other their side is right. wont happen. To the faithful, it takes only faith, no need for evidence to back creationism. to the unfaithful no matter what evidence is shown backing creationism, it cant be accepted because they cant accept the supernatural. plain and simple.

it really surprises me how some scientific shows keep on spouting BS that has been proven wrong, because it fits evolution...or makes the show sound better lol sometimes both lol

Very well said. Also I believe I remember reading Darwin where he questions his theory with spirituality because he was still confused by things, I believe in his last book if my memory serves correctly.

Excuse me...but evolution has ABSOLUTELY been proven. I encourage anyone to think that it hasn't to go and actually do some research, i.e. find some peer-reviewed journal articles and read them.
Secondly...a "theory" in Science is the same as a "law" or a "truth". I really get tired of people not understanding the meaning...it doesn't mean it's an idea. It is a truth that has been proven. The theory of gravity is a "theory" too...it's also been proven.

Organisms evolve (not change in a generation b/c that is fixed, but change over lineages). A perfect example is drug-resistant bacteria. I can observe evolution...you can too.

If anyone thinks that organisms appeared out of nowhere...well, that's just silly.

Not to start a pissing contest but I would call that adaptation not evolution ;P

hamfoto: Im not arguing , Im kinda bring up a question, I do remember reading it , now I have find it. There are things that defy logic, thus unexplainable and I accept that, and i believe Darwin knew that..

Adaptation is something an individual would do within one lifetime. You could adapt to living in a colder environment by wearing a sweater. Evolving into being able to survive a colder environment would require the survival of individuals who have genetic traits favorable to living in a colder environment and those going on to reproduce and spread those genes. Evolution is the spontaneous mutation throughout generations and the effects those mutations have on the possessing individual's ability to reproduce and thereby pass on the genes that hold the mutation.

hmm, this is how many threads go, becoming off topic and ending up in arguments. why dont we get back to the topic: how is the sling?

I remember something about a moth species years ago too that, because of a major change in it's environment, changed wing color over generations really fast because the color favored it not getting eaten by a local pred, something like that. Anyway, the sling is still tiny and still alive. I found two more that looked a little different and put them aside too just to keep an eye on them.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For formal theories as studied in mathematical logic, see Theory (mathematical logic). For other uses, see Theory (disambiguation).

The word theory has many distinct meanings in different fields of knowledge, depending on their methodologies and the context of discussion.

In science a theory is a testable model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind, and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise verified through empirical observation. For the scientist, "theory" is not in any way an antonym of "fact". For example, it is a fact that an apple dropped on earth has been observed to fall towards the center of the planet, and the theories commonly used to describe and explain this behavior are Newton's theory of universal gravitation (see also gravitation), and the general theory of relativity.

In common usage, the word theory is often used to signify a conjecture, an opinion, a speculation, or a hypothesis. In this usage, a theory is not necessarily based on facts; in other words, it is not required to be consistent with true descriptions of reality. True descriptions of reality are more reflectively understood as statements which would be true independently of what people think about them.

According to the United States National Academy of Sciences,

Some scientific explanations are so well established that no new evidence is likely to alter them. The explanation becomes a scientific theory. In everyday language a theory means a hunch or speculation. Not so in science. In science, the word theory refers to a comprehensive explanation of an important feature of nature that is supported by many facts gathered over time. Theories also allow scientists to make predictions about as yet unobserved phenomena.[1]

Sorry to add to the debate, but I do not believe theory and fact are the same.

And you would be wrong. Adaptation is when an organism changes or adjusts to something external during its lifetime. Evolution doesn't change an individual...individuals whose genes work best in an environment, in that generation, change in the next generation.
